Mariarosaria De Rosa to UNMC!

We said goodbye to Dr Mariarosaria De Rosa this month as she moved to Omaha to open her own lab at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the Eppley Institute for Cancer Research. Mery has been a pillar of the Opresko lab and the Hillman Cancer Center since joining in January of 2019, and she will be missed by many here in Pittsburgh.

Mery joined the Opresko lab after finishing her PhD work in Dr. Vittorio Enrico Avvedimento’s lab at the University of Naples Federico II. Mery has had a very lucrative career here, publishing a first author paper in Nature Communications with another accepted by Biomolecules. Mery also secured an NIH Pathway to Independence K99/R00 award. She has shown great leadership skills, helping to mentor many new and rotating graduate students, serving as an instructor for a Grant Writing course for other postdocs, and being selected to serve as a session co-chair for the 2022 EMGS meeting and an invited panelist for career development seminars.

Mery has been a great colleague and friend to many here in the GSP, and she will surely be missed. We wish her all the best and are excited to see what awesome science comes from her lab in the future!
